Liquality Introduces the Frictionless web3 SDK

Liquality is expanding its product range from their highly regarded wallet extension, to a fully fledged web3 SDK. Bringing web3 values and technology into web2 spaces is a significant trend. Current API based solutions are suffering from complex user experiences, which are holding back mass adoption. Existing web3 solutions are also hard to adopt by developer teams with no prior experience. The Liquality web SDK solves for both problems, enabling solutions that incorporate the web3 ethos of self-custody and interoperability, while making it easy for developers to embrace and integrate.

Background

Liquality is widely known for being the first open source, multi-chain, self-custodial wallet extension, with support for Ethereum and EVM, as wellas Bitcoin, Solana and Rootstock. A wallet built following decentralization values and Liquality’s vision to empower digital autonomy for an open, more equitable world. Liquality continues to uphold its reputation as an industry leading example of what attributes and ethos a self-custodial wallet should employ.

With the deep experience gained building the wallet extension, the Liquality team is moving to the next logical step on the roadmap: building web3 SDK's, creating better experiences for users and developers alike.

Why a web3 SDK

As web3 impacts an increasing number of industries, standalone wallets are no longer an adequate complete solution. While they work well for self-custody of crypto assets, they are less suitable for mass adoption, because they present significant friction to new users in the form of seed phrases, on-ramping, understanding concepts like gas and chains, and needing to interact with external pop ups for every transaction. Web3 games, for example, have suffered from onboarding challenges, because 3rd party wallet experiences have proven to be too complex for new web3 users. For developers too, web3 has proven to be a steep learning curve. Adopting knowledge of core blockchain technology is often seen as a distraction to the core business of game development.

The ideal solution emerges when web3 functions are seamlessly integrated into the gaming experience. Until now, the right solutions were simply not readily available. But the Liquality SDK has been developed with exactly this aim in mind. It removes all web3 platform friction, for users and developers alike.

What is different about the Liquality SDK?

Current web3 solutions suffer from a few urgent problems. Probably the most pressing issue is the fact that users are required to navigate away from an application experience in order to enter a separate wallet application flow. Especially in the case of onboarding new users, this leads to a painful and confusing experience where pop-ups mixed with web3 jargon are creating massive barriers to adoption. The Liquality web3 SDK solves for this by keeping the user in a single experience and by removing seed phrase complexities. This is all accomplished while maintaining user self-custody, by utilization of Liquality’s SDK’s.

Self-custody of assets is one of the main promises of web3. It allows users to truly own, command and have control of their game assets and creates new pathways to interoperability. For example, using skins and weapons across different games,  is emerging as a new way to extend value amongst otherwise silo’d gaming ecosystems & worlds. This is only possible if the user is truly in charge of what’s in their wallet. The Liquality SDK is uniquely designed to remove user friction, while at the same time accomplish true user self-custody.

Complexity of Web3 technology solutions doesn’t just stop on the user side of the experience and extends to the developers creating the application. Building web3 functionality into an app requires extra team capacity and months to learn web3 concepts. Several solutions exist to provide wallet-as-a-service functionality to ease onboarding, but still leave developers with the need to learn web3 in order to provide full featured functionality such as:  minting and managing of collectibles, token swapping, and other critical web3 functionalities. The Liquality SDK is a one-stop-shop that makes integrating web3 into an existing application or game a breeze, by reducing the developer work required to the inclusion of just a few lines of code within their existing application.

Liquality has always been completely open source and embraces the ethos of an ecosystem that is fully extensibilite. For the web3 SDK, this continues to be a key differentiator. The open platform allows anyone to extend functionality, for all to benefit from. As interoperability becomes an ever more important theme, we believe maintaining an extensible platform is the only way to move forward.

Liquality has one of the most experienced teams in web3. The Liquality wallet extension was the first true open-source multi-chain wallet available, and the multi-chain platform and technology has been tried and tested by over 30,000 users already.

Who is this for?

The Liquality Web3 SDK is a seemless way to provide users with web3 functionality. Boost user engagement with self-custody, providing true user ownership, tradability and interoperability.

One key application of the Liquality web3 SDK is gaming, where web3 has already been making massive inroads. True user custody of game assets (like coins, skins, weapons), and emerging interoperability between games of those assets, and themes that are rapidly being embraced by gamers and developers alike. At the same time issues around user and developer friction are still waiting to be fixed.

Other examples where the Liquality web3 SDK is solving to provide frictionless user experiences are web3 browsers, social networks, metaverse applications, wallets and NFT / digital art marketplaces.
